Oven Repair in Rockford, IL
Updated
Short answer

Not heating
Whirlpool's list for an oven that will not heat (Whirlpool):
- The bake element should glow red when heating; if it does not, it may need replacing.
- The door seal has to hold the heat in, and the door has to close fully.
- The temperature sensor sits at a 90 degree angle; if it is out of place or an element is too close to it, readings go wrong.
- On gas ovens, a dirty or faulty igniter can stop the oven from heating.
F codes
GE's own table: F2 or F20 means the oven temperature exceeded a preset threshold; F3 and F4 usually mean the oven sensor needs replacing; F0, F1, F6 and F7 usually point at the keypanel; F5 and F8 at the electronic control; F9 at the door lock circuit (GE Appliances). Frigidaire: F10 thermal runaway, F30 open probe, F31 shorted probe, F90 to F94 door lock (Frigidaire). Full lists in the GE and Frigidaire guides.

Common questions
Oven Repair: questions
Why is my electric oven not heating?
Whirlpool's first suspects: a bake element that no longer glows red, a door that does not seal, or a temperature sensor knocked out of position.
What does F2 mean on a GE oven?
GE says F2 or F20 means the oven temperature has exceeded a preset threshold. Turn the oven off and let it cool; a repeat code needs service.
How much does oven repair cost?
Angi's 2026 guide averages $200, with most repairs $130 to $310. An igniter is about $200 and a control board about $225.
What is a Frigidaire F10 code?
Frigidaire calls F10 thermal runaway: the oven is detecting higher-than-normal temperatures. Turn it off and let it cool; if it persists, contact service.
