Is the service call fee applied to the repair?
Sometimes. Angi says diagnostic fees are sometimes credited toward the repair if you hire the same technician. Ask before the visit.
Is it worth repairing an old appliance?
HomeGuide's guideline is no for appliances over 10 years old or repairs over half the cost of a new one, but lifespans differ: InterNACHI gives a gas range 15 to 17 years and a dishwasher 9.

No. Service is independent and not affiliated with or authorized by any manufacturer. If your appliance is under the manufacturer's warranty, contact the manufacturer first.
Will an independent repair void my warranty?
The FTC says companies can't void a warranty solely because you used an independent shop or third-party parts, though they can refuse coverage for damage those caused.
How long are appliance warranties?
Usually one year for parts and labor. Some go further: Maytag covers parts for ten years on appliances made after 2017, and Samsung and LG cover refrigerator sealed systems for five years.
